Kaitlin and Charles met online via Bumble in 2021. Kaitlin swiped right on Charles because he was on a boat in one of his pictures, and Charles would tell you he swiped right because he thought Kaitlin was cute. Their mutual love of being on the water and both having jobs involving water (being a marine mammal trainer and a boat mechanic) sparked conversation. Kaitlin was hesitant to meet up initially but thought, "If this guy really likes me, he will go see a Jacques Cousteau documentary with me." Sure enough, Charles went to go see the ocean documentary with her and his ticket stub still lives in his wallet to this day. Despite having a broken toe, Charles spent all day walking around the Freehold Mall with Kaitlin, talking to her and getting to know her. Their second date really sealed the deal for Kaitlin when Charles brought her a basket full of fall goodies - candy, wine, a candle, and a toy for her dog, Rusty. Their relationship became official in December 2021 when Charles asked Kaitlin to be his girlfriend at Six Flags on the top of the Ferris Wheel. After only dating for about 8 months, Kaitlin got a job in Virginia Beach and asked Charles to move with her. It was an easy decision for him, so he packed up his things, his dog, Doc, and the couple moved in together. Charles had no problem finding a job and Kaitlin and Charles settled well into their new lives. In May of 2023 Kaitlin and Charles become homeowners! Charles spent months repairing the house and giving Kaitlin her dream kitchen, and Doc was so happy to have a big backyard again. On May 29, 2024 Charles had a really big surprise planned for Kaitlin. Kaitlin and her friends Mackenzie and Callie planned to take their dogs, Tex and Doc on a walk at Pleasure House Point Natural Area. While walking the trail, Kaitlin spotted Charles walking towards her with the biggest, fluffiest puppy she had ever seen. When Kaitlin walked up to Charles, he kneeled down and said "Will you marry me, and be this dog's mom?" Of course Kaitlin said yes! They all went out to Commonwealth Brewery afterwards to celebrate, where Kaitlin named the Great Pyrenees puppy "Goose" so that they could call their dogs "Doc Doc Goose." Both Doc and Goose will be a part of the couple's ceremony as the best man and flower boy. Kaitlin and Charles cannot wait to see what adventures lie ahead as husband and wife!
