let’s get married !!

Irijah and I met in middle school at Hope. Somehow word got around that we thought each other were cute (coincidentally it was a miscommunication that we found out years later, but I guess you could say it was for the better). We “dated” at that time for a brief period (well as much as you can in middle school) which was cut short because I wasn’t allowed to date. I moved on to high school and Irijah soon after moved back to Mountainair. We followed each other on social media, however we pretty much had lost touch. After I moved home from Phoenix, Irijah reached out and we decided to go on a date (which at the time I refused to call it that). We spent time together but nothing serious. Irijah deployed to Qatar the summer of 2023, and I realized I wanted to get to know him better so we began FaceTiming, often for hours at a time. We spoke frequently during his deployment and started falling for each other. When he moved back, we started dating and spending every waking second together. We celebrated birthdays, traveled, we went to basketball games together, and basically did everything together. We soon realized we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together! Irijah spoke with my parents to ask if he could marry me. Knowing how important family is to me, he began planning the proposal around Thanksgiving when my family would be around, which also happened to be our anniversary. He planned an anniversary dinner and we came back to my parents house as Irijah had a “gift” hidden for me there. When we arrived, we went through the backyard and candles were lit, music was playing, and a sign that said “Marry Me”. The easiest yes ever! Afterward, my family came out of the house to celebrate and have an after party!!
