Although we both attended Towson University, we never actually met on campus. Instead, we connected through an online dating site and matched on February 19, 2018. Our first conversation started off in a fun way—talking about purple Doritos—and from there, we just clicked. For our first date, we went to Applebee’s, and the conversation felt so easy. There were no awkward silences or forced small talk—it just flowed naturally. As time went on, our connection grew as we became close friends, discovering we had a lot in common and could talk about pretty much anything.
KeVonte proposed in the courtyard of the Metro Centre at Owings Mills, a moment Charis will never forget. She had a feeling it might happen that day since the two were both dressed up for the occasion, but KeVonte managed to throw Charis off by telling her they were just meeting friends at a local bar. She was so focused on the idea of catching up with friends that she didn’t even realize she was walking into her own proposal! When the couple arrived at the courtyard, it was beautifully decorated with rose petals, tea lights, and giant light-up letters spelling out “Marry Me.” What made it even more special was that KeVonte had arranged for their immediate family to be there, and most importantly, their daughter Kiran was present to share the moment with them.
