How We Met

01.28.2019

Darrell and I met on my first day of work at Acosta. Prior to my interview, my future boss Laura grabbed Darrell so they could Facebook stalk me. Darrell told Laura she had to hire me. So, pretty much on my first day, I sat in Laura's office and told her I love him. As time went on I got more and more nervous around him, stuttering and shaking like leaf every time he said a word to me. Anytime I would get a chance to talk to him without making a fool of myself, I would run to my boss's office and say "Oh my God, I love him." I promise you, I was obnoxious. . One day I was talking to him about going on the boat and exchanging flirty emails. Eventually, after a ton of emails we finally got each others digits! Soon after that he asked me to go to dinner, FINALLY! When I got there I could not even take a sip of my beer because everything was shaking, my hands, my head, it was awful. The date went amazing and I was head over heels in love with him. He walked me to my car, kissed me and the rest was history.

The Proposal

11.27.2020

Darrell and I had a stressful week leading up to our engagement. It was the week of Thanksgiving and Darrell's car was in the shop and taking way longer than expected. Then we needed to have the water heater replaced. As they were replacing it, water started coming through from the lightbulb in the kitchen and we went into panic mode. So, Friday, Darrell asked if I wanted to bring some dinner to this park that our neighbor told us about, Jetton Park. We had gone a few weeks before with the kids and it was beautiful. We picked up a salad and a wrap from Pippa's and headed out. We grabbed the food and started walking towards these swings that overlooked the water. Darrell said, "No, lets go this way." It was a walkway covered with trees and surrounded by water. As we made our way through the trees it opened up at the end to the waters edge. Darrell ran back to grab some chairs so we could sit right by the water facing sunset. As soon as he left, I texted my Mom a picture of the spot and and told her it would be even more perfect if he had a ring in his pocket (BTW, I had no idea). We started to eat and realized we had no utensils, so I am eating a salad with my fingers and him a wrap, we were a mess. Shortly after we finished, Darrell was looking at me and started wailing on my neck. Apparently, there was a giant angry looking spider crawling up my neck and in my hair. The best part was he didn't say anything as he started whacking me, so I had no clue what was going on. Once the crisis was averted, we were laughing and holding each other watching the sunset. He looked at me and kissed me then told me that it was no coincidence we were in this spot, at sunset. My man then put his hand in his pocket and got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. And the ring!! He did good ya'll <3
