Our Story

We met online and had our first date at a whiskey bar in NYC. We had immediate chemistry and before we knew it, 5 hours had passed. I knew I liked him a lot but was trying to play it cool. We continued seeing each other regularly and going on really fun dates, and he invited me to meet his friends (and even his parents at a family friends' wedding), but we still hadn't had the talk. I continued to half-heartedly go on other dates, until I couldn't take it anymore. When I finally asked him what our status was, 3 months in, he seemed puzzled, of course we were exclusive! He had stopped seeing other people after our first date but failed to mention it! 🤦🏻‍♀️ A few weeks later, after our Fourth of July party, he told me he loved me 🎆 and I said it right back (actually, I think my initial response was "Whaaat did you say?"). Fast forward 8 months... The proposal was not a complete surprise (he had asked my father for permission when we were home for Christmas, and we decided to design a 💍 together). I had a suspicion that he was going to do it on a weekend getaway that he had planned to Upstate NY. I had packed a cute hiking outfit, just in case he decided to pop the question on our hike. As I stepped out of the shower, I was still standing in a towel as we were going over logistics for the trip. A flash of gold caught my eye and I noticed that our 🐶 Riley was wearing a collar (which usually isn't the case). When I bent over to check it out, I saw an inscription that said, "Sydney, will you marry me?" When I turned around he was on one knee. I loved that he still managed to surprise me and that it was just the two of us in our apartment with our dog. After we made a few calls, we headed off to celebrate in Beacon, NY.
