Things To Do and Where to Stay

The Wedding Website of Chanel Brooks and Andrew Shearer
We are hosting the wedding in Uluwatu which is the southern part of the island of Bali. Although not 100% necessary it would be convenient to stay in that area the night of the wedding. Uluwatu is full of resorts, cliff side villas, shopping, spas, day clubs, and would be the best spot for golfing. Other than that we don't want to put any barriers on where anybody wants to explore. One of the reasons we love Bali so much is the variety that the island has to offer. The northern part of the island is full of rice terraces and jungle activities. Staying in Ubud or finding a jungle villa would be the way to go. The main hub around Seminyak has shopping and an amazing restaurant and bar scene. Canggu is where we lived for a month. It is known for surfing and is great for young travelers and day clubs. The Nusa Islands are located off the coast and has stunning beaches to explore. A slightly father boat ride leads you to the Gili Islands where you can party or relax, whatever you choose.
Ubud

Ubud

Ubud, Bali, Indonesia

The arts and culture capital of Bali. This area is the home of yoga studios, monkey forests and is the gateway to exploring Northern Bali's waterfalls and rice terraces. Feel free to stay farther north than Ubud if you are interested in being closer to specific landmarks. Ubud will have more shops, restaurants and bars but villas scattered throughout the North can be beautiful and give you a good feel for the jungle. Make sure to get some Luwak Coffee while you're here Things to do - Ubud Market - Tegalalang Rice Terrace - Bali's most famous photographed rice terrace. Located 25 minutes outside of Ubud - Jatiluwih Rice Terrace - Bali's largest rice terrace. UNESCO heritage site - Tirta Empul - Water temple known for its healing holy water - Ulun Danu - Temple located on Lake Bratan There are plenty of other famous temples throughout Bali and smaller Hindu temples will be seen on just about every street - Ubud Monkey Forrest - Waterfalls - Git Git, Sekempul, Nung Nung, and plenty more!

Nusa Islands

Nusa Islands

Bali, Indonesia

The Nusa islands are a group of 3 islands located a 45 minute ferry ride off the eastern coast of Bali. The three islands consist of Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan, and Nusa Ceningan. You catch the ferry from the city of Sanur. This is the area where we got engaged (Broken Beach) and is the ideal spot if you are looking for a relaxing island environment. The largest island Nusa Penida is home to some of the most famous beaches in Bali including Kelingking, Diamond and Atuh Beaches. You can book through our friend Blakie, Island Time Bali. We normally stay on the smaller islands of Ceningan and Lembongan. Beautiful ocean view villas are available for under $30. These 2 islands have very few cars and are perfect for driving a motorbike around. This would also be a good area for people interested in scuba, snorkeling, and swimming with manta rays. Don't forget to check out the blue lagoon as well. Just a warning there is no nightlife on these islands. Everything closes at around 9!

Uluwatu

Uluwatu

Uluwatu, Bali, Indonesia

Uluwatu is on the southernmost tip of Bali and is where the wedding will be held. Uluwatu is home to most of Bali's luxury villas and golf courses. It is known for its picturesque views of the Indian Ocean from atop its massive cliffs. Bali's second most famous temple (Outside of Tanah Lot in Canggu) called Pura Luhur Uluwatu. Also this would be the best place to watch a traditional Balinese Kecak fire dance. Uluwatu is know for some of the best beaches on the mainland both for swimming, lounging, and surfing. Some of these beaches are Padang Padang, Suluban, and Balangan. As for best places to go out, our personal favorites are Single Fin and Omnia. Ulu Cliffhouse, Sunday's Beach Club, The Edge Bali (famous clear skypool), and Roosterfish are all very popular as well.

Gili Islands

Gili Islands

West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia

This group of 3 islands is closer to the main island of Lombok. It is still accessible by boat from Sanur, Bali and takes about 2-3 hours depending on the type of boat you choose. Gili Trawangan is the largest of the 3 islands and one of its quirks is that the only way to get around is by bicycle or by horse drawn carriage. This island has a good nightlife scene and great seafood restaurants with acoustic bands playing along the main street. The scuba diving and snorkeling in this area is amazing. You are guaranteed to see turtles, and sharks and manta rays are a possibility. The smaller islands of Gili Meno and Gili Air are much more relaxed but provide the same opportunities to get out in the water. If you decide to go to one of these islands than reach out and we will give you more information

Canggu

Canggu

Bali, Indonesia

Canggu is a total surfer, laid back beach town. If you have been to Venice or Abbot Kinney street... think that when you think of Canggu. Some of our favorite places in Canggu are, The Lawn, Finn's Beach Club, Luigi's Hot Pizza, Old Mans, Pretty Poison, La Brisa, Potato Head, and Mrs Sippy. In Canggu you have a mixture of rice fields, temples, and amazing restaurants. Shopping in Canggu is truly one of my favorites! You can also book incredible villas for so cheap on Airbnb. Canggu is for a younger crowd, the beaches in Canggu aren't the prettiest but it's the hub to learn how to surf. Don't be alarmed when you see 3+ people squeezing on a motorbike cruising around. There's plenty of markets to get your cheap Bali shopping in, main one is Love Anchor. Bargain, bargain, bargain.

Seminyak

Seminyak

Bali, Indonesia

Seminyak is the place to go for night life, upscale shopping, trendy restaurants, spas, and resorts. Seminyak and Canggu are very similar, but Seminyak is a little more upscale.

BALI
