Online of course! Lots of great conversations over the holidays led to Reid asking me out on our first date. Reid claims he... “had a good feeling”.
After a five-hour fun-filled evening of drinks at Bua in the East Village, we both came away from the date saying it was the best ever. Rumor has it that Reid met up with his friends afterwards and told them... "I'm going to marry that girl!"
It was Valentine's Day when I met Jeff and Deb. I was nervous and they were lovely. Earlier in the evening I boldly told Reid, "If you ask me to be your girlfriend, I'd say yes!" Although Reid didn't, introducing me to his parents suggested... he did!
It was our first trip together. Reid invited me to Boston to visit his good friends, John and Lauren. The weekend was wonderful, and I was so excited when Reid finally said... "Will you be my girlfriend?"
What was restriction for others was amazing quality time for us. Typical dating at Manhattan restaurants and bars was replaced with weeks long trips at our parent's homes in Westchester and Charlottesville. We knew if we could enjoy spending that much time together, then that must be a good sign for... a big move!
After over a year of basically living together during the pandemic, we decided we were ready to 'really' live together. After lots of looking, we found a beautiful apartment in the Upper West Side that was amazing and... dog friendly!
So... when you move into a dog-friendly apartment building, you convince your boyfriend to adopt a dog! And not just any dog, but a perfect Australian Goldendoodle from South Dakota that we named 'Scoop'. Could life get any better?
After years of dating filled with love, laughter, trips, a move, and a dog, life was about to get better. On a rainy Saturday in March (we're told it's a sign of good luck), Reid dropped to his knee. We celebrated our love story that evening just as we will with you all in the next chapter...our wedding!
