Things To Do

Waco, Texas: Alyssa's beloved hometown & the city where Chance & Alyssa met! Below are some must-see places around town, most of which also hold a special place in the future Mitchells' hearts!

Sweetness Desserts

2034 North Valley Mills Drive, Waco, TX 76710
, 245-756-0590

Owned by Alyssa's mom, Laura, Sweetness Desserts has got the BEST desserts in town. Stop in Friday or Saturday for cupcakes, cookies, brownies, truffles. We recommend trying the Coffee Toffee Caramel Crunch. Oh, and you'll get a slice of her cake at the wedding, too :) Chip and Joanna Gaines approve of these cupcakes too. Rumor has it Laura also started Magnolia's Bakery. Ask her about it!

Baylor University

1311 South 5th Street, Waco, TX 76706

Chance & Alyssa both graduated from Baylor's business school May of 2024. While they officially met at Antioch, Baylor certainly helped them grow closer through lots of business school meet-ups, football games, and walking to/from class.

Antioch Community Church

505 North 20th Street, Waco, TX 76707

Alyssa has gone to Antioch her whole life, and we give credit to Antioch for allowing Chance & Alyssa's paths to cross. It's also where they found nearly all of their wonderful Waco friends. We highly encourage you to check it out Sunday morning at 9am or 11am - anyone and everyone is welcome :)

Milo Cuisine

1020 Franklin Avenue, Waco, TX 76701

Alyssa's absolute favorite restaurant in Waco, thanks to incredibly fresh, tasteful, and aesthetic food and a beautiful restaurant. Alyssa has celebrated three birthdays with brunch at Milos. Reservations are recommended.

Magnolia Market

601 Webster Avenue, Waco, TX 76706

Waco has a lot more going for it than Magnolia, but we are thankful to Joanna Gaines for really putting us on the map. Alyssa worked at Magnolia as a baker in 2016 while her mom helped start the bakery, and later on as a retail host in 2021. The coffee shop on site served as a popular study spot for Alyssa throughout college. FYI, they are closed on Sundays.

Waco Tours

407 South 8th Street, Waco, TX 76706

The best way to see Waco and hear it's many stories. Many of our friends have worked here, and if you get lucky you just might have the best man, Cooper Allen, as your tour guide. Fun fact, Alyssa was offered a part-time job here right before she started working at Baylor full time.

Cameron Park

2601 North University Parks Drive, Waco, TX 76708

A VERY special place for Chance & Alyssa, as this is where Chance proposed to Alyssa. They've also had many great dates, convos, and walks throughout Cameron Park. If you're brave enough, scout out Jacob's Ladder and give it a climb.

Bertie’s on the Rooftop

701 Washington Avenue, Waco, TX 76701

Located atop the Magnolia Hotel (Hotel 1928), this is a beautiful restaurant with a fancy rooftop bar & stunning views of Waco. Another special place to Chance and Alyssa, as this is where they both said "I love you" for the first time last summer. Reservations are recommended.

Health Camp Burgers and Shakes

2601 Circle Road, Waco, TX 76706

A classic local diner with the best burgers and milkshakes. It was a childhood staple for Alyssa, and Chance and Alyssa also ate there on their third date dressed on goofy outfits from Goodwill that they picked out for each other.
