Chalee was working as an ABA Therapist at a school in Canal Fulton. In homeroom, Chalee met Patti, the classroom nurse. Patti and Chalee would often laugh about the chaos and bonded while on community trips. One night, at her daughters’ softball game, Patti had the best idea! She realized that Chalee would be the perfect person to “soften” Coach Miday’s rough edges. Patti shared her brilliance with her husband, and was advised to not play match maker. Patti, thankfully, decided to not listen to her husband and went to school the next day to show Chalee the picture she had sneakily taken of Oliver. Chalee approved and Thesis (Patti’s daughter) was given the all clear to pass Chalee’s number to Oliver. Chalee would wait TWO WEEKS for Oliver to use that number. Later it was discovered that Oliver lost the original sticky note, and begrudgingly had to ask his favorite student for a new one. It was a warm spring evening when Oliver finally sat down to write out a text, that would read like an email ...and of course… the rest is history…

Oliver decided to pop the question on a less than ideal day in December. It was cold, it was rainy and it was the end of 2020. He had hidden the ring in his dress coat…he knew that would be the last place she’d look. Oliver had called and texted Maddie (Maid of Honor) to make sure she would be able to come and take pictures of the special moment. He had it all set; dinner at her favorite restaurant, a walk around the Medina square all lit up for Christmas, and to ask Chalee as they walked by the gazebo. Dinner went as well as you could ask, they laughed and ate and Oliver did lots of deep breathing. After dinner, he made sure Maddie was all set up in her spot ready to go, and they began their stroll around the square. As they made their way towards the gazebo, the biggest wrench possible was thrown into Oliver’s plans. The man in the group right in front of them, dropped down on one knee and popped the question to his girlfriend. Oliver began to panic and Chalee was becoming restless. As Oliver dealt with a cold Chalee who wanted to go home, he scrambled to text Maddie telling her to go to the back of the gazebo for plan B. Then began a second lap around the square. As they reached the gazebo, for the third time, Oliver got down on one knee and asked Chalee to make him the luckiest man on earth. She said yes (just so you know!)
