Three of our neighbors have graciously offered their driveways as parking spaces for guests. 432 and 445 Circle Hill Drive are across the street from each other and just up Circle Hill Drive from our house. 400 Circle Hill Drive is the first house (French Country Style) on the right as you enter the subdivision. They have offered their driveway as well as the gravel parking spot in front of their home. You may also park along the right side of the street heading up Circle Hill Dr. to our house. Carpooling/Uber is a great option if possible. There are 2 business parking lots available just across from the entrance to Highland Hills. 4110 Sutherland Avenue (2 story red brick) and 4206 Sutherland Avenue (LabCorp). It is a 4 minute walk to our home. If you need different accommodations, please let us know.
We met online, but Steve was in Knoxville and Chad was at the beach. Steve was not about to deal with anyone out of state, but finally read the message that Chad was only out of town for a week. We texted constantly on Friday and during Chad's drive home Saturday. Chad: "Maybe we could meet up and go for a walk?" Steve: "How about tomorrow?" And that was that.
We met at the Third Creek Greenway off Sutherland. Steve got lost and Chad had to call him to guide him to the greenway. This was the first time they actually spoke on the phone...Chad thought, "Oh that voice!" Immediately upon exiting his car and looking at Chad, Steve thought, "This will never work, this guy is too good to be true." They walked and talked and walked and talked and walked and talked. Neither of us wanted to stop, so we went to Chad's house and talked some more. We covered a lot of serious territory that day (like Steve having 9 kids), but nobody flinched (Chad, that is), so we went to Tomatohead for lunch and the conversation continued. We finished at Chad's and eventually created a list of questions that fueled our happy dialog for days and weeks to come. And, yes, we shared our first kiss that day.
There have been many actually. At least twice a week someone asks the other, "Will you marry me?" and the answer is always a smile and a "yes." And usually a kiss. In addition to proposals, we have already (sort of) had several weddings. Early in the relationship, we sat in the living room to profess our love for one another and our commitment to each other as partners for eternity. Our friends have also been determined to make a wedding happen. Our first public "I Do" was on November 7th, 2020, at the IHOP on Kingston Pike surrounded by some of Steve's former colleagues (and of course, Linda the waitress). Our second was on November 6th, 2021, at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs officiated by our dear Katy (by the powers vested in her by the Tennessee Board of Nursing?). Now it's time to do it officially.
