FAQs

Question

What time should I arrive for the ceremony?

Answer

We kindly request that guests arrive at 4:30 PM. The ceremony will begin promptly at 5:00pm. This will allow guests to have time at the welcome desk and even visit the us before the wedding begins!

Question

Where is the wedding venue, and is parking available?

Answer

The wedding will be held at Sunwoongak Café (선운각), a beautiful venue tucked at the base of Bukhansan Mountain in Seoul. 📍 서울 강북구 삼양로173길 223 선운각 223 Samyang-ro 173-gil, Ui-dong, Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, South Korea https://naver.me/GEAIJfuL There is a small parking lot available on-site, but please note that parking is limited—we recommend carpooling or using public transportation if possible.

Question

How do I get to the venue?

Answer

You can reach the venue by taxi or public transportation. ✨ From central Seoul (Seoul Station, Myeongdong, Jongno, etc.): 🚕 Taxi (Recommended) The simplest option is to take a taxi directly from your hotel or location in Seoul straight to the venue. Depending on traffic, it’s about 20–40 minutes from central areas. Taxis are affordable, and apps like Kakao T or Uber make booking easy. 🚇 Subway → Bus/Taxi Take Line 4 (Blue Line) northbound to Suyu Station, then exit through Exit 3. From there, you can either: • Take a 5–10 minute taxi straight to the venue, or • Hop on a local green bus (closest stop: “Bukhansanseong Fortress Entrance (북한산성)”) and then walk 5–10 minutes uphill. 🚌 Shuttle (TBD) We’re also exploring a shuttle service from central Seoul. If confirmed, we’ll update this page and notify guests.

Question

Plus-Ones

Answer

Due to venue capacity, we’re only able to accommodate the guests listed on each invitation. If a plus-one is included, it will be specifically named on the invitation. Unfortunately, plus-ones cannot be changed or substituted. Thank you for understanding as we work within our guest count.

Question

How different is a Korean wedding from a U.S. wedding?

Answer

Our wedding will feel very familiar to weddings in the U.S. — ceremony, dinner, and plenty of celebrating! 🎉 We’ll be adding just a few Korean touches to honor tradition, but nothing you need to prepare for or worry about. Just come ready to enjoy the day.

Question

What is the Bride's waiting room?

Answer

In Korean weddings, the bride has a special waiting room (신부대기실) before the ceremony where guests can stop by to say hello, take photos, and offer congratulations. A quick greeting and photo are perfect—just keep visits brief so others have a chance.

Question

What is Chug-ui-geum (축의금), and do I need to bring it?

Answer

Chug-ui-geum is a traditional Korean cash gift given at weddings. At our wedding, there will be a designated table near the entrance where you can hand the envelope. If you're unfamiliar with this tradition, please don’t feel obligated—it’s entirely optional. Your presence and support mean the most to us. But if you'd like to take part, simply bring cash in an white envelope and your warm wishes.

Question

What is the dress code for the wedding?

Answer

Korean wedding attire tends to be a bit more polished than what we're used to in the U.S.—think office business casual, but elevated and chic. For men: dress pants and a collared shirt (a jacket or blazer is a nice touch). For women: a dress, pantsuit, or a stylish blouse with slacks. If you prefer to dress up more—like in cocktail attire—that's totally welcome too!

Question

What should I expect at the reception?

Answer

Dinner will be a buffet featuring Korean dishes, and we’ll share an update closer to the date about vegetarian and gluten-free options. Seating will be open style — no assigned tables — so please feel free to sit wherever you’re comfortable. There will be plenty of room for everyone!

Question

Is there a welcome dinner, afterparty, or other activities?

Answer

Yes! The evening before the wedding we’re planning a welcome dinner so everyone can meet and mingle (details to come). We’re also considering a group activity that day, but haven’t decided yet. After the ceremony, the celebration will continue with an afterparty at the venue. And we may add another group activity the day after the wedding to keep the fun going. 🎉🍽️🚌

Question

When should I book my accommodations?

Answer

We recommend booking your accommodations 6–12 months in advance to have the best selection of hotels, Airbnbs, or guest houses. You can still find places closer to the wedding date, but your top choice may already be booked. We’ve managed to book last-minute in Korea before, so it’s possible—but not something we’d recommend for a wedding trip!

Question

What will the weather be like during that time of year?

Answer

Our wedding is in early October, one of the most beautiful seasons in Seoul. Expect pleasant fall weather with daytime highs usually in the low 70s°F (21–23°C) and cooler evenings in the low to mid-50s°F (11–13°C). It’s a great time for light layers—think a dress or shirt for the day and a light jacket or sweater for the evenings. 🍂

Question

How can I prepare for everyday things in Korea?

Answer

We’ve put together a Guide for Guests with helpful tips on getting around Korea—like using the subway, booking taxis, recommended apps, money basics, and a few cultural notes. It’s designed to make your trip smoother and stress-free. Please contact us to request a copy!
