Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Amber Stauffer and Chad DesMarteau
Our favorite thing to do is just walk around and explore! There are so many little shops, side streets and historic buildings/churches to check out. Listed are some places you might stumble upon as you're walking around. Check out air bnb experinces if you'd like to do a guided tour or want to do a day trip to Monte Alban or Hierve El Agua. There are endless places to eat, drink and explore in the centro. We have an extensive google map with tons of restaurants and mezcalerias that we love. Text us and we can send it to you! There are simply too many recommendations to list here.
La Cosecha Organic Market

La Cosecha Organic Market

806 Calle Macedonio Alcalá, Oaxaca de Juárez, Oax. 68000, Mexico

Really accessible and much calmer than the large markets . We highly recommend you check out this small and charming "organic market". Bonus, it's right next door to La Clinica. Vendors here sell super fresh and authentic Oaxacan food and food products. Great place to have lunch and sample traditional foods.

Mercado de La Merced

Mercado de La Merced

1522A Avenida José María Morelos, Centro, Oax. 68000, Mexico

Markets are a must visit! Here, you'll find a lot of authentic food. It's fun to walk around and check out all the vendors and have a quick lunch.

20 de Noviembre

20 de Noviembre

Miahuatlán de Porfirio Díaz, Oax. 70805, Mexico

Probably the largest market. Check out the "pasillo de humo" section! It's hard to miss with smoke billowing out and people crowded in. Endless vendors where you can choose your own marinaded meat and have them grill it for you. You'll find other vendors close by to buy sauces, sides and tortillas to make your own lunch.

Monte Albán

Monte Albán

Monte Albán, Oax., Mexico

A UNESCO world heritage site, Monte Alban is a quick 20 min drive from the centro. Inhabited over a period of 1,500 years by a succession of peoples – Olmecs, Zapotecs and Mixtecs – the terraces, dams, canals, pyramids and artificial mounds of Monte Albán were literally carved out of the mountain and are the symbols of a sacred topography.

Hierve el Agua

Hierve el Agua

Hierve el Agua, Oaxaca de Juárez, Oax. 70477, Mexico

Natural hot springs in the mountains. Look at booking a trip on air bnb experiences if you'd like to spend a day here.
