Discovery Park is the largest park in Seattle. It offers paved and rough trails, views of the Puget Sound, and great views for a picnic or a relaxing stroll.
There are so many hiking areas and trails near Seattle. They range in distance, difficulty, and types of views. We chose this trailhead based on proximity to the city and ability to pretty easily complete it without a ton of hiking experience. Turning this weekend into a vacation? What better way than to lay out on the beach?! An easy water-taxi ride from downtown takes you to West Seattle and Alki Beach. Once you get off the water-taxi, you'll want to rent a bike or catch an uber to head to the beach. There are plenty of restaurants and bars on the beach so plan to hang out for a while!
Getting to Mount Rainier is a bit of a drive from the city, but the experience is worth it. We tend to head to the area, "Paradise", for great views.
An easy uber ride to the Ballard neighborhood, Golden Gardens has a family friendly beach with great views of the Olympic mountains.
