We are a Tinder success story. Chad swiped right on Ryan because of the picture of his dog (Rigby), his adventures, and his great hair. Ryan *almost* swiped left on Chad because he didn't think he would ever like a small dog (Bentley). Luckily, Ryan decided to swipe right and give Chad (and Bentley) a shot. The match happened, the texting began, and then Ryan informed Chad that he was only in Memphis for the weekend because of a football game, and he actually lived in Nashville. This put a hard pause on things. Neither of us wanted a long distance relationship. But, we decided to keep in touch anyway. We texted for months before actually meeting in person. One weekend, Chad was going to visit family and friends in Nashville, and on the way called up Ryan to see if he had plans that evening. Ryan said no, and three years later Chad said yes.

Anyone who knows Ryan knows that he loves adventures, living on the edge, and is fairly fearless. Anyone who knows Chad knows that he is a planner, is fairly cautious, and likes to know the next step. On our trip to Hawaii, Ryan had planned a "guided sunset hike" for us. Chad was pumped. Chad thought this sunset hike would include "glasses of champagne, great views, lots of pictures". He was right about two of the three things. The guided hike turned into a treacherous, wet hike on Kalepa Ridge in Kauai, Hawaii. After sliding down muddy trails and gripping onto branches in order to not tumble down the hike, we arrived at a meadow with breathtaking views and some friendly mountain goats wondering what we were doing. As we took in the view on this secluded trail and tried to take a selfie (obviously), we were approached by the only other person on the trail who asked, "Do you want me to take that picture for you?". Of course Chad immediately jumped at the opportunity. "This is a great shot," she said "but I'm actually a photographer and have my camera if you want me to email you a copy from my camera." This was Chad's dream come true -- a local, with a professional camera, on a secluded hike. What were the odds?! The odds were greater than he thought, considering Ryan had hired her, planned the entire thing, and was now down on one knee. "Will you go on adventures like this with me forever?" he asked.
