Some love stories don’t follow a straight path—they take the scenic route. Ours took a few detours, a few pauses, and a whole lot of grace. We first met over 20 years ago at a local nursing home. Maurice had come in looking for a job, and I was already working there. We didn’t plan on meeting each other that day, but something about it felt bigger than chance. There was a spark between us, real, sweet, and unexpected. We were young, life was moving fast, and neither of us knew then what the future would hold. Life took us in different directions. We parted ways, lived whole separate lives, and even tried a few times to reconnect through the years. But timing just wasn’t on our side… yet. There were moments when we came close, when our paths brushed up against each other again, and it felt like maybe, just maybe, this was our time. But again—life. Things happened. People changed.
