Travel Note
If the above above hotels don't fit your needs, there are many other options for hotels & airbnbs in the immediate area. Honorary mention for hotels include Ailla, which is directly across the street from the venue but on the pricier side. If you prefer to have a beach experience, we recommend staying in Gündoğan, a town close to Yalikavak, as it's a great combination of a walkable area and nice beaches, but it's further out (~15 minutes) from the venue. For transportation to the venue from a different location, you can either travel to one of the hotels, or come directly to Birdcage 33 via Taxi.
Travel Note
The nearest airport to our wedding destination is Bodrum-Milas Airport which is about 50 km (32 miles) from Yalikavak. This airport is primarily for domestic flights in Turkey, so anyone flying internationally will likely need to stop in Istanbul. For transportation to your hotel from Bodrum-Milas Airport, you can book a shuttle or private transfer in advance, both hotels listed above will help coordinate this service if needed. For Local Travel within Bodrum, Use dolmuş (minibuses) for affordable travel between towns and beaches or taxis are also widely available but may be pricier.
Travel Note
As of January 2024, U.S. citizens can visit Turkey visa-free for stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. For European travelers, visa requirements vary: citizens from most Schengen Area countries can enter Turkey visa-free for stays up to 90 days within a 180-day period. However, travelers from non-Schengen European countries should verify specific entry requirements, as some may need to obtain an e-Visa or a visa prior to arrival. Please ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended date of entry into Turkey.
Travel Note
The local currency is the Turkish Lira (TRY). Credit cards are widely accepted, but carry some cash for small shops and markets. We recommend taking out money as close to your travel date as possible and taking out minimal cash, as inflation is high in Turkey. For those traveling from abroad, Turkey uses a Type F Power Adapter. This is different than most other European countries. If you need any help or advice after arriving in Turkey, please feel free to reach out! We will be arriving in town over a week early and will be available to answer questions.
