This short, but beautiful hike is where we had our first kiss and is about 30 min from the venue. Alltrails or GPS should take you to this trail head easily under the name Watson Falls.
Another beautiful and short hike with a lovely waterfall about 30 min from the venue. Near this trailhead (but further down the road) are beautiful hot springs nestled in the forest and overlooking the river below, called Umpqua/Toketee Hot Springs. Beware, this destination is only for the hippie hearts that don't mind nudity (there is LOTS of it). The hike to the hot springs is short but strenuous.
A bit longer hike through meadows takes you to two lakes. This area is known to have bears, so be cautious.
This is a much longer and more strenuous hike to a fantastic viewpoint. This is about a 60 minute drive to the trailhead from the venue. Look up information on Alltrails for more details- we haven't actually made it to this hike, yet.
Crater Lake is a beautiful National Park about 75 minutes or so from the venue. There is often still snow on the ground and very chilly this time of year.
The Umpqua River is beautiful and fun to float from Amacher Park to Hestness Landing. This is just outside the town of Roseburg and 45 minutes to an hour from the venue. The float takes 2-4 hours depending on water levels. Tubes for floating can be purchased at just about any grocery store or sporting goods store in town (Big 5, Albertson's, Fred Meyer). We will likely orchestrate a river float some day during the week after our wedding for whomever wants to join (more details to come).
We love to go "hunting" for clams and crabs in Coos Bay, Oregon. This coastal town is about 1.5-2 hours from our venue. Crabbing will not be in season, but still may be fun for the experience. Clamming is year-round at low tide. Feel free to ask us more details on this if you hope to try it out.
Bandon is a fun coastal town about 2.5 hours from our venue. If you go, be sure to check out the recycled ocean trash art exhibit called Washed Ashore.
If you are into fly fishing, the North Umpqua river has a "fly only" zone and said to have great fishing. You will need to get a fishing license and look into the rules and regulations. Waldron's in Roseburg will likely rent fishing gear.
I hear the owners are great ;). Come check out the Pub that Mike co-owns with his two friends, Bryant and Marissa.
Old Soul is one of our favorite places to eat in Downtown Roseburg with great artisan pizza!
Our favorite Thai Food in Roseburg (there is only one other :)).
Best Indian food (of two) in town with an awesome lunch buffet every day but Monday from 11-2. If you need an Indian lunch buffet on a Monday, Shanti's is our number 2 spot.
For getting groceries, we suggest you stock up either in Glide or Roseburg. We don't shop in Glide so I don't know what it available. In Roseburg, we like to shop at Sherm's Thunderbird Market with a wide selection of both organic and non-organic items or Fred Meyer. Grocery Outlet is a great place for discount wine and beer and random treats- but don't go looking for something specific because you will likely strike out. Idleyld Trading post is a little convenience store in the canyon about 25 min from the venue for last minute items.
There are tons! Pinot Noir is this regions best grower. Cooper Ridge and Melrose have great views.
