Adam asked Kayla to a lunch study date which became a surprise picnic, and soon we were senior prom dates. College took us 700 miles apart, but we thought better of letting that be the end and gave long distance a try. Almost five years later when we graduated, we split the distance and met halfway between Boston and Raleigh by moving to Washington, D.C. and then on to Durham!
On a return trip home from visiting our families for Thanksgiving, Adam detoured to our first date spot. This time, we had a breakfast picnic of croissants and cookies before he got down on one knee. We made more detours that day to celebrate with our families, and had hours on the road to think about our future journey together.
