All business communicate via WhatsApp. You'll most likely end up making reservations for restaurants, calling taxis, and booking experiences (e.g., boat tours, guided hikes) all via WhatsApp. Most (if not all) hotels and home/apartment rentals use Booking.com. Using Google to find travel experiences will either lead to paying more money than average or something really out of the way (unnecessary). Use instagram to find local businesses that create experiences for tourists (for a boat tour guide with stops for swimming in Himare - see "Boat Tour in Himare" in the Things To Do page).
Hotel
Only a 7 minute drive from the wedding venue! This place is affordable and one of the higher end hotels in the area.
Hotel
This hotel is about 15 minutes away from the venue. It is located in the best part of Shkodra: Pedonalja, where you'll find local shops, cafes, restaurants and much more! We have never stayed here before because our families live nearby, but it seems like a great option for someone that has never been to Shkodra before. NOTE: Shkodra is also called the Bicycle City of Albania, so we recommend renting a bike!

The best way to get your money's worth in lek is to exchange cash dollars to cash lek once you are in Albania. Always check the rate exchange online to make sure you're not being scammed. The Albanian currency LEK changed value at the end of the 60s, however in many places they discuss prices in the old currency, so be sure to ask if it's new or old lek. For reference, $10 USD is $1000 LEK (new), but $10000 LEK (old). Converting the currencies is difficult even for us, so we recommend constantly checking with Google.
