Colin and Cecily met a few times throughout college before they matched on Bumble in December 2017. Their first date was one of the few snow days we had during our time in Nacogdoches. They went sledding, got tacos, and then watched Beauty and the Beast. How romantic, right?! Colin invited Cecily over for a second date to cook her steak, we all thought she had him locked down... but, like any other college boy, the commitment issues sunk in. Fast forward through a LOT of back and forth, on and off again, and trying to decide whether or not they were serious about each other, Cecily and Colin decided to just be friends even though everyone knew they were meant for each other. Colin graduated in May of 2018 and moved to Fort Worth. Cecily graduated in August of 2018 and moved to Dallas. As you can probably assume, they reconnected and started hanging out again. To no one's surprise, Colin caught feelings, got scared of the commitment, and ghosted her again. So for the first time in a couple of years, Cecily decided to see other people. Colin wasn't a big fan of that. After getting a little jealous, he slithered his way back in. Colin made it up to Cecily and they started officially dating on June 30th, 2019. BUT WAIT - In August, things took a turn. Cecily now had commitment issues and broke up with Colin. Don't worry though, they got back together 3 days later. We all knew Cecily was in love with Colin and had been since their senior year of college. In January of 2020, only 7 months into being together, Colin and Cecily unexpectedly moved in together. Although it was way sooner than either of them expected, we all know it’s what got them to where they are today. Cecily and Colin have never pretended that their relationship was easy, or perfect, or that it just came naturally. It has required work, a lot of work, but the story of their love is so beautiful and strong due to the foundation they built it on. -Allie Reynolds, Maid of Honor
Colin proposed to Cecily on December 12th, 2020 during a weekend getaway to Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Cecily had a gut feeling all week long that he was up to something, but Colin guaranteed everything was normal. While enjoying dinner on their first night in Broken Bow, Cecily asked Colin if he was going to be proposing that weekend (if you didn't know, she hates surprises). Colin said no and told her the ring hadn't even come in yet (lies). Colin immediately, but discretely, got nervous about Cecily being onto him and he hid the ring behind the clock on the fireplace mantle, just in case. The second day in Broken Bow was gorgeous, so they decided to enjoy the outdoors and go on a hike, with Ollie of course. On the first hike, they came across this adorable little bridge where Cecily, dropping hints again, said, "Wow, this would have been such a great spot for you to propose!" Little did she know, Colin was literally about to do so but decided to wait a little longer to really surprise her. On their second hike, they ended up at the most romantic peak right at sunset, and that was when Colin knew it was time. He got down on one knee and once Cecily turned around and saw him, she said, "You're ******* lying!" (lol). Colin asked Cecily to marry him and, obviously, she said yes! It was just the two of them which made for the most special and intimate proposal.
