Arriving By Plane

The nearest airports are San Diego International Airport (SAN) and Tijuana International Airport (TIJ); however we recommend flying into and out of San Diego rather than Tijuana. You're certainly welcome to see if flights to and from Tijuana work well for you, but if you're flying in from anywhere in the US, the domestic flights will probably be more direct and more cost-effective than flying internationally. We will only be organizing shuttles to and from San Diego, not Tijuana (but we can give you advice on transportation if you need it!).

Arriving By Car

Some car rental companies allow you to cross into Mexico and back; however, there are lots of restrictions and expensive fees, so this is NOT something we recommend. There are no car rental companies that allow one-way travel from the US to Mexico, so keep that in mind. Crossing the border into Mexico in your OWN car however, is a breeze. There's almost never a line of cars to get into Mexico and you are rarely stopped to show your passport. It's about a 90 minute drive to get from San Diego to Ensenada on the toll road. The wait times coming back to the US tend to be a lot longer. Please budget extra time if you need to make it to San Diego in time for a flight. The time spent queued up bumper to bumper can vary from 1 hour to 4 hours (longest wait times being on Sunday afternoons & evenings). There are shorter wait times for people who have Global Entry or SENTRI passes (usually 30min - 1hr), but ALL the people in the car need to have a valid Global Entry / SENTRI pass, not just the driver.

Hotel Torre Lucerna Ensenada

The majority of our guests will be staying at the nearby hotel called Hotel Torre Lucerna Ensenada from September 29th until October 1st. We will be coordinating a shuttle to and from our wedding venue for guests who stay at this hotel, which is located about a 15min drive away. Late September is a very popular time in this area, and there aren’t many available alternative accommodations nearby… so, PLEASE DO NOT WAIT to book your room. They can easily book up, and sadly they don’t allow us to organize a hotel block, so there's no way for us to hold rooms for you.

On-Site Glamping Tents & Villas

Due to the limited amount of accommodations on-site at the wedding venue, we personally reached out to those guests we think would be best suited for each of the available on-site options, and booked those ahead of time. If we already reached out to you personally, and you secured your accommodations with us, then you're all set! No need to book the hotel. There are no more on-site accommodations available. If we haven't already personally reached out to you about this, don't worry! The hotel is lovely and really close by. Please try to book a room at the Hotel Torre Lucerna Ensenada as soon as possible. Thanks!

Shuttle

Direct Shuttle from San Diego to Ensenada

September 29, 2023 8:00 am - 10:00 pm

If you choose this option, on Friday, you will meet your shuttle group in Downtown San Diego, and after a smooth two hour ride, you will be dropped off at your hotel or a nearby car rental location. You will be crossing from USA into Mexico without having to get out of the shuttle. Estimated Cost: $90 per person PLEASE NOTE: The exact departure time and pick-up location for this shuttle has not yet been decided.

Budget Shuttle from Border to Ensenada

September 29, 2023 8:00 am - 10:00 pm

If you choose this option, you can either drive or take an Uber 20min from San Diego to the San Ysidro Port of Entry. Then, you can cross the border by foot, and meet your shuttle on the Mexican side. The shuttle will take you from the border to your accommodations or a car rental location. Sunday Shuttle from Ensenada to the Border

October 1, 2023 8:00 am - 10:00 pm

On Sunday, shuttles will depart from Hotel Torre Lucerna and Cuatro Cuatros. After a 90min ride, you will be dropped off at the pedestrian border crossing at the San Ysidro Port of Entry. You can cross the border by foot and take a 20min Uber from there, back to San Diego or to the airport. PLEASE NOTE: The exact departure time for this shuttle has not yet been decided.

This is the closest car rental location to our wedding hotel and venue. There are no Ubers or public taxis in this area, so if you want to go and explore on your own, I really recommend getting your own car or asking us for suggestions. If you're a skilled driver, you can consider renting a car from Tijuana after crossing the border into Mexico and then driving 90min to Ensenada.
