Q + A / TRAVEL INFO

The Wedding Website of CeCelia Barnes and Mitchell Thompson
We highly recommend booking your accommodations ASAP! We have circled the central area you ideally want to stay near since it's walkable to all the main attractions and close to our welcome party Thursday night! This way you can easily explore the city by foot! The wedding day venue (Villa Miani) is about 15 minutes north and a bit more isolated from the hustle and bustle of the city center so make sure to schedule or plan on getting a taxi on the wedding day far enough in advance. We will be providing a bus to bring guests back to the city center (address and set location will be disclosed closer to date) at the end of the wedding evening Friday (around 1:30 am)
Question

When should I book Accommodations?

Answer

NOW! The sooner the better to book! Next year is an extra busy year for Rome because it is a Jubilee year - this only happens every 25 years. Because of this, there will be an influx of people coming into Rome which mean accommodations will book up faster than normal years, so we highly recommend booking your accommodations as soon as possible! We also recommend staying near the welcome party location. This way you are walkable to all main sights and attractions as well.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

For the welcome party: this will be held outside on a rooftop, so think summertime cocktail attire! For the wedding day: We kindly request our guests to wear semi-formal or formal attire! It’s going to be HOT in Rome so keep in mind the weather! Men- you’re more than welcome to wear lighter weight linen suits or something more breathable! Tux’s are not necessary! My ladies- have fun with it, you’re in Italy! -here’s your chance to feel elegant and wear a fun gown for the occasion!

Question

Hotel VS Airbnb ?

Answer

From personal experience - Rome has some of the best Airbnbs! They tend to be in incredible locations close to attractions, considerably more room and often times cheaper than hotels. A major thing to consider though is STAIRS. The buildings are very old and many don't have elevators so that is something you will want to check into. If stairs are a problem, we recommend staying in a hotel! Another thing worth noting is the heat in August. Air Conditioning will definitely be something you will want to make sure your place of stay has!

Question

Where should I fly into?

Answer

The main airport in Rome is the Leonardo da Vinci Airport (FCO). If you choose to fly directly into Rome this is a very easy and central airport to get anywhere to or from. If you choose to start the trip in another Italian city, Rome is extremely accessible by train or flight which makes traveling into simple!

Question

Can I bring a guest date?

Answer

We unfortunately cannot accommodate additional guests unless formally invited on your wedding invitation! If you have any concerns please reach out to us about this

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

We love your little ones, we really do! However we would like our special day to be an adult-only occasion and respectfully request no children for our wedding day. We hope you can take this as an opportunity to enjoy a fun date night and evening!

Question

Arrival into Romes Airport (FCO)

Answer

If you don't opt to book a private ride or driver in advance- no worries! The Taxi line is efficient and super easy to find. You enter the line right out front of the airport and rides are a fixed rate of 5o euros into the city center area.

Question

Transportation in Rome?

Answer

Rome has both Taxi's and Uber, but we highly recommend downloading the app "FREENOW" in advance to book your taxi rides. It is similar to Uber where you upload your card info, but the rides are typically cheaper and have quicker arrival times through this app. If you choose to stay in the city center near the prime attractions (which we highly recommend) you can easily walk everywhere and get from monument to monument by foot. There is an abundance of restaurants, rooftop cocktail bars, shopping, and anything you might need all centrally located.

Question

What is a Jubilee year?

Answer

The Italy Jubilee, also known as the Holy Year, is a special event or year of grace in the Catholic Church that typically occurs every 25 years. The Vatican City and Rome are closely intertwined, so this is a special year of spiritual renewal and celebration for Catholics and causes a significant increase in pilgrims and visitors of all kinds. Due to this influx, accommodations may be difficult to find if you don’t book well in advance.
