What an incredible love story we share… We met at the first party of the year in 1987 at Mount Mercy College. I think we enjoyed each others sass. I had a crush from the first time we met and never told him. We became really close friends, but never dated. After college we went our separate ways and did not reconnect again until August 2021. He remembers sitting there at our "catching up" dinner thinking, there is no way she is single. As he looked at me, his heart wondered “what if”. I remember having to excuse myself when he started flirting. My mind could not compute how our friendship could turn into something more. The farewell side hug in the parking lot was REAL awkward, haha. We didn't know what hit us. Shortly after we had our first real date. We did lots of reminiscing. He then dropped the "I love you" bomb. I lightly grabbed his forearm and said "Please don't propose" and "Thank you, I like you a lot'". On our next date I took him to meet my Dad, my brother Doug and sister-in-law Regina. My heart melted seeing him interact with them. As we drove away from their campsite, Regina said "There is GOING to be a wedding". He popped the question in that same spot in July 2022 and here we are. I love his huge heart, confidence and what a great father and Papa he is. He makes great humans. He loves my quick wit, calm nature (most of the time?) and how I love our families. We laugh all the time, enjoy spending time with loved ones, spoil grandchildren endlessly and snuggle our little dog, Jersey. We want to thank both our families for supporting us and loving us on this crazy ride, especially Riley, Matt, Haley, Logan, Caleb and Andrew. We love you.
