Getxo

This is a beautiful coastal town just 25 minutes from Bilbao on the metro ('Algorta' stop). Check out the walk along the water from Getxo to Las Arenas to see some beautiful old Basque mansions and stop to have a pintxo in the Puerto Viejo (the old port). For the best (!!!) Spanish tortilla (Ander's absolute favorite), don't miss Kaixo just up the street! You will thank us later!

Paseo de la Galea

This is a beautiful walk along the Basque coastline (it can be a long one, so come prepared). We usually take the metro out to 'Larrabasterra', walk towards Sopelana beach, and then turn left to follow the coastal path. You will see amazing cliffs, beaches, waves, and views. Bonus tip is to pair this walk with the sunset! Along the way there is a bar a bit off the path called Fangaloka, which can be a good option if you need a rest. Turn back around there and return to Larrabasterra or continue on the full 5 mile route, arriving in Getxo where you can return on the metro at 'Bidezabal' stop or check out the town for drinks and food (see our section on what to do there).
