We met after Lindsey moved to North Carolina to pursue her coaching career. Thanks to mutual friends and many nights out in Downtown Durham during late summer, we got to know each other better. Our first official "date" was to our friends' beautiful Chapel Hill wedding where Catie played as the wedding musician. "Thank God I can play guitar! -Catie" We decided to make the relationship official in September of 2016, and will make it OFFICIALLY official in September of 2022.

In February of 2020, Catie told Lindsey that she had a surprise planned. She said they had tickets to an exclusive event in Raleigh, but to get in they both needed a negative Covid test. This was a lie! They were actually scheduled to board a plane to St. Lucia, where Catie had arranged a photographer and a beachside dinner. On the night of the "event", Lindsey came home from work thinking she needed to get ready to leave. Instead, Catie showed her a video recapping the last 5 years of their relationship and breaking the news that (SURPRISE!) they needed to pack their bags to depart for a warm destination in the morning. Less than a day later, they arrived in beautiful St. Lucia, where they checked in to an oceanside resort and began to unwind. The next evening, a car retrieved Lindsey from the room and brought her to the beach, where Catie was waiting with a photographer and a ring. She popped the question and they popped champagne that they purchased together in France 2 years prior. It was a beautiful evening and the perfect way to celebrate!
