We're getting mawwied

He was a boy. She was a girl. Can we make it any more obvious? There are obvious differences between Connor and Catie’s stories of how they met. For Connor, they met in a band and he was hopelessly smitten with her from the start. For Catie, she thought about quitting and often wondered how to dodge his latest request to hang out. Whether by fate, luck, or sheer persistence, they started dating in the Summer of 2014. They spent many nights in Connor’s spacious 12x12 dorm room, watching movies and pretending there was enough space for them both on the twin bed. Ah, romance. They finally started “going steady” on July 10th when Catie said yes on the moonlit steps of Northrop Auditorium (they think it was actually the 11th but who really knows). Before long, Connor graduated from school and Catie was finishing her senior year of college. Catie started hanging out at Connor’s cool new adult apartment, often commenting that she would have decorated way better. Their relationship continued to flourish and the following year they moved into their first apartment as a couple. Catie learned exactly how loudly Connor sang in the shower, and Connor discovered precisely how little bed space was needed for proper sleep. It was a time to be alive! In early 2017, they took a trip to Cancun, Mexico. While Catie was excited to lie on the beach and earn a sunburn that would make a tomato blush, Connor was desperately trying to sneak a ring past the TSA without a luggage search. Finally, on their third day in paradise, Connor tricked Catie into a morning walk on the beach. With the sun rising over the Gulf and a stomach full of knots, Connor got down on one knee, forgot his entire speech, and proposed to the love of his life. If you know Catie, it will come as no surprise that she promptly began crying, blacked out, and later had to have the entire story told back to her. Their day ended on a romantic lobster cruise, watching the sun set and dreaming of their future together.
