Kaylee and Cathy

'They U-hauled'

Kaylee and Cathy met for their first date at Lonesome Rose on a warm August evening. Even with the best queso in the city in front of them, they talked too much during their 4-hour date that no chips or queso were eaten. After closing the restaurant down on a Wednesday night, they both could not wait until the next time they saw each other. Within twenty minutes of saying goodbye, Kaylee texted that she was home and they haven't stopped talking since. Kaylee went home that weekend and told her mom she met her future wife. Cathy went home after the date and texted her 'Logan ladies' that she had the best first-date ever and this person was about to change her life. Spoiler alert: they were both right. And so the morning bird fell in love with the night owl. Over the next year, they traveled back and forth from Logan Square to Lincoln Park making sure to see each other every day. Cathy learned about Kaylee's love for s'mores, old fashioned donuts, and how she manages to make everyone in a room feel seen and comfortable. Kaylee learned that Cathy loves boybands, live concerts, reading, and will point out every single dog that they pass. The next few years were filled with two apartments together, rescuing Frank, trips across the world, merging their friend circles into one, creating new traditions, and endless laughter. (If you didn't know, Kaylee was class clown and truly makes Cathy cry from laughter at least once a week. Cathy also makes Kaylee laugh, usually unintentionally). Every year, on August 4th, they go to Lonesome Rose to celebrate their 'first date anniversary', reminisce on how far they've come, where they're going, and eat the queso they missed out on.
