Hotel, VRBO and AirBnB options are available to the North (Incline Village, Kings Beach) and South (South Lake Tahoe) of Sand Harbor or a short drive to the East, on the other side of the Sierra Nevada mountains (Genoa, Carson City, Reno). Camping is also available nearby (Zephyr Cove, Nevada Beach).

We discovered this Amtrak line as a great option between Salt Lake City and Reno while doing long-distance. This line starts in Chicago and travels West, stopping in Colorado, Utah, Nevada and California before stopping in San Francisco. If you have extra to spare, want to see the countryside from an observation car, want to save a bit on transportation and/or are trying to figure out a good way to bring your mountain bike to Tahoe, the California Zephyr might be a good choice for you!
