Catherine & Nate's Engagement Adventure

How we met

It all started on a beach in Mexico

Catherine and Nate attend the same church but ironically it was on a church mission trip in Mexico towards the end of 2019 when their paths crossed. After the first day of the home building project, most of the team members headed to the beach. Nate and his children arrived in Mexico at the end of this day, one day late due to a school field trip. They were playing on the beach with church friends when Nate noticed Catherine from a distance and he found out from a friend that she was on his building team. It wasn't until the next day that they met at the job site and shared a few brief conversations over the lunch break and while working next to each other on the house. Nate remembers Catherine's impressive stucco skills, and Catherine left thinking Nate was a really nice guy. Fast forward a couple of months towards the end of February 2020, and some semi-awkward waves of hello and brief conversations at church, and Nate messaged Catherine over Facebook so that they could to get to know each other better. These turned into daily epistles and finally she gave him her number so they could text instead. The day that most businesses closed for COVID, they met to go on their first jog together and continued with outdoor activities to eventually include the kids too. Their first official dinner date was Italian and after getting over the shock of seeing each other dressed up for the first time, it was just as comfortable as ever. Since then there have been loads of laughs and adventures. Catherine was smitten following an enjoyable bike ride and breakfast together. On their first trip to Sonoita together to meet Nate's family, the two rode a quad to a nearby lookout point to enjoy the sunset. A short but sweet conversation during the sunset revealed both were on the same page about the future. Since then it seems that there is never enough time in the day to spend together, with the kids, and with both families. We give God all of the glory for His timing and provision.
