Back in 2015, a young boy left home and came to the Big City with a head full of big ideas and heart full of dreams. Through seasons of life, he won and lost friends, jobs and many different apartments. Four years later, a young man was ready to open his heart and share his dreams, and that's when he met her... Back in 2015, a young girl left the South for an independent life of study and adventure while earning her Masters degree in Philadelphia. She toiled year-round to complete research and learn her trade of healing bodies, until one day she left town with two summa-degrees. But she wanted more and had always dreamed of life in the Big City. Again, she made a leap and fulfilled her dreams of healing others while living amongst the stars...a young woman had planned the details of her whole life until this moment, "and now what?" she asked herself... It was a cold, dark night as he shook rain from his umbrella upon entering the bar, but he did not notice because his head was elsewhere thinking back to an intriguing conversation over Hinge that week. Was she Italian? European? He didn't know. Her pictures seemed well-traveled but he wasn't sure where. Head buzzing from the heat of their exchange, he waited for her to arrive for their first encounter. The door opened and she spotted him, standing in a corner and wearing glasses she didn't expect. The door opened and his aperture narrowed as she walked inside. He lost the ability to notice anyone, anything but her. Hours that felt like minutes passed. Hearts that were open were filled. They left each other knowing full-well with whom their next adventures would be spent. All that was left was The Question, "will you marry me?" And so, three years later, a man sat with the woman's parents to ask permission for that question. They gazed a long while and responded with a question, "are you strong enough to weather her adventurous spirit?" The man looked inward and observed his heart, thinking back over the past three years of pandemic life; the joys and sorrows made sweeter for the presence of his beloved; the passion she inspired. He looked them in the eye and said "yes." A man and a woman stood on the beach in Colombia with no one but the waves and a taxi driver for company. He sang, he professed, he promised, and then he asked The Question. The woman looked down where he knelt, her head spun with emotion. All she could say was "Yes, yes I'll marry you!" And so, on the first of September, 2023, a man and a woman request the honor of your presence as they answer the final question and say those two words we cherish, "I Do!"
