David and Catherine met in January 2019, on a very frigid, windy evening. “Swiping right” (thanks, Hinge!) led to a shared beer at Muddy Waters. David and Catherine immediately hit it off! David fell hard for the “charming and nerdy math teacher” and Catherine couldn’t get enough of David's perspectives, humor, and intelligence, not to mention he was tolerant of her not-so-great jokes! The pair knew immediately something felt different and refreshing. Many knew that David was in it for the long haul when he continually made time for Catherine despite his frequent 30+ hour work shifts. Soon, their free time was filled with hikes, brewery hopping, rocking climbing, trips to their families’ cabins, biking and cross country skiing together. In January of 2020, the two moved in together only to really get to know each other once the pandemic hit. Trips to the cabin, bottles of wine, and lots of card games later, their alone time strengthened their relationship and made it more clear that they were each other’s chosen family and it was time to make it official! On December 21st 2020, David got down on one knee and proposed to Catherine in Hayward, Wisconsin at the Matson’s cabin. It was the perfect weekend filled with games, winter walks, and sitting by the fire. The couple popped champagne and FaceTimed family and friends. Which leads us to the next step in their life together: the beginning of their marriage! Catherine and David are so grateful for their families' and friends' support and love; without you, their relationship would not be the same.
