FAQs

The Wedding Website of Catherine Chang and Daniel Schiffrin
Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Black Tie Optional For Men: If you own a tuxedo, we would love for you to wear it. If not, renting or purchasing a tuxedo is welcome, though a dark, formal suit is also perfectly appropriate. For Women: Formal evening attire is encouraged. Floor-length gowns are welcome, as are elegant cocktail dresses or similarly formal evening wear. Summer colors are welcome.

Question

Is the event indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Our wedding is fully outdoors. We recommend footwear suitable for outdoor terrain, such as grass or gravel. Heels are welcome, but block heels or wedges may be more comfortable.

Question

Are shuttles provided to the wedding?

Answer

Yes! The shuttle will pick up guests from The Upham Hotel and The Milo Hotel. We will provide times closer to the date.

Question

Can I use my own transportation or Uber/Lyft to the wedding?

Answer

Due to extremely limited parking at the venue, we kindly ask guests to use the shuttle when possible. If you need to drive yourself, please contact us ahead of time. Uber and Lyfts are also available. **WARNING** Google Maps does NOT correctly route to the venue. Please follow the directions below. Take US-101 to Exit 83 Bates Rd. • From Santa Barbara (north): Turn left onto Bates Rd. • From Los Angeles (south): Turn right onto Bates Rd. Turn right onto Bates Ranch Road, passing through two white stone walls/pillars (you will see “8320” on the right pillar). Follow the road and keep right at the fork. Continue past the bathrooms to the yellow surfboard marked “8320 BATES RD.”

Question

Are children or additional guests allowed?

Answer

While we love your little ones, our wedding will be an adults-only celebration. Additionally, due to space limitations, we’re only able to accommodate the guests whose names are listed on the save-the-date and formal invitation. We kindly ask that no additional guests or children attend beyond those named. Thank you so much for your understanding. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Question

Can I take photos or videos?

Answer

Please refrain from using your phone and cameras during the ceremony; thank you!
