Colin and Catherine met playing soccer at USTC in Thorndale. Colin was subbing for a team Catherine was playing on. During one of his rotations, Colin asked a teammate what Cat's dating status was. Unfortunately, she was off the market at the time, but lucky for both of them, that wasn't meant to last.
After a few months, and winning a championship, the team ended up going to PJ Wellihan's to celebrate. Catherine's roommate, Erinn, got to talking to Colin and found out he lived right up the road. Erinn promptly suggested that "we all hang out some time!" Colin invited Cat over for a dinner of pierogis, and the two joined Erinn and now-husband, Tommy for a night of Mario Party 3 on N64. Colin won, and honestly, it's amazing that they stayed together after that night, with how competitive they both are.
It has never been "if we get married" with Cat and Colin, always a matter of when. They started talking seriously about marriage in 2019, then 2020 happened...we're going to skip that part. On Christmas Eve, 2020, Cat and Colin decided to open presents together. Towards the end of their festivities, Colin acted like he forgot something. He suggested that Cat check her stocking one more time. She climbed up on the couch reached in and stated the obvious fact that the festive sock was, in fact, empty. He responded, "well, that's weird because this is supposed to be in there." He then helped Cat down, got down on one knee, and popped the question. Cat stood there, hand clasped over her mouth, ugly-crying and nodding profusely.
