Question

I’m visiting from out of town. Anything I should know about being outdoors in Denver?

Answer

Yes! Denver’s elevation and climate can feel very different if you’re coming from lower elevations, especially the East Coast. The air is much drier, the sun is stronger, and you may feel the effects of altitude more quickly than you expect. We recommend drinking more water than usual, wearing sunscreen (even if it doesn’t feel very hot), and taking breaks if you need to. Comfortable shoes, a hat, and sunglasses are also great ideas. Most people adjust just fine—it just helps to be a little prepared!
