Just a 15 minute drive down the hill from the Mountain Top, this classic Vermont spot serves all-day breakfast in a rustic, working sugar house. Stock up on maple goodies at the gift shop. You know it's authentic when they charge you extra for "artificial" syrup.
You may have skied Killington in the winter, but there is a lot going on at the Mountain all year long! Killington offers tons of action-packed activities including hiking trails, ziplining, gondola rides and golf. Killington also features a number of year-round restaurants including Preston’s at the Grand Hotel (serving breakfast and dinner), and the Clubhouse Grill (serving lunch) across the street on the Killington Golf Course.
This local favorite is a great spot for late lunch or dinner. Overlooking Summit Pond, The Foundry offers delicious food and live music. You can even order "tableside s’mores," complete with a flame to roast your marshmallow for dessert!
Downtown Rutland is a great place to check out if you're looking for something to do during the day. The Farmer's Market has fruits, veggies, artisan cheese, homemade breads, maple syrup and Vermont crafts. Open on Saturdays from 9am - 2pm.
If you're looking for a spot to grab a bite in Rutland, Roots offers an eclectic farm-to-table menu. They have a tent with outdoor seating, and plenty of room indoors as well — including a large bar area serving up inventive cocktails.
If you are looking for a quick spot for breakfast or lunch, we highly recommend this spot! Dream makers is our dessert caterer for the wedding and when we visited for our tasting, we couldn't help but try a breakfast sandwich. Cam said the "mountain man" is the best breakfast sandwich he's ever had!
Looking to indulge in some of Vermont's best beer selection? Long Trail Brewery sits right on the beautiful Ottauquechee River. Visit the brewery, have a beer on the deck overlooking the mountains and sample their menu items which use locally-sourced ingredients.
For those of you driving from the Boston area, Simon Pearce is a great place to stop on the way up or on the way home. Shop at the luxury glass flagship store and dine overlooking the falls. We love Simon Pearce's farm to table Vermont cuisine.
Woodstock, VT is a quintessential New England town just down the road (okay, that's by Vermont standards — it's 45 minutes). The picturesque Main Street is full of local shops, restaurants and places to explore; be sure to stop by FH Gillingham & Sons, a general store that first opened in 1886, and the Woodstock Farmers Market for great local flavors.
