Cate and Cam were formally introduced September 2016 on the 14th floor of 125 High Street, as colleagues. The first time the pair interacted was at a Company gathering on Envoy's roof top. Cate was new to the organization and eager to make (professional) connections. The two started chatting and Cam was quick to shut down the "shop talk" and enjoy the rest of his evening. Little did the couple know what the universe had in store for them...
After two years of a cordial relationship between colleagues, a coworker shared with Cate that Cam would also be going to Oktoberfest later that year. Cate eager to endear Cam as a workplace ally and friend reached out without any "shop talk" to discuss his upcoming plans and to see if their trips would overlap. While the two would not be in Germany at the same time, an ongoing dialogue (unrelated to work!) sparked between the couple. After they both returned from their trips, they were invited out by a colleague to grab drinks. The two hit it off and left the group to go to Tip Tap Room. The couple sat in the corner booth sharing life stories until the restaurant closed. Cam called Cate an uber to make sure she got home safely. A modern day prince charming!
It took several months for the pair to take the leap of faith and pursue a workplace romance. Cam (finally!) asked Cate on a formal date, treating her to a dinner at Grill 23. Things progressed quickly and by the end of May, Cam spent Memorial Day Weekend with Cate's family at their home in North Carolina.
Cam planned a romantic ski weekend at a charming inn in Stowe, VT for Valentine’s Day. On the first night of the long weekend, the pair went to the manor house of the inn for a lovely dinner and when they returned to their suite, champagne, flowers and a crackling fire was waiting for them. Cam got down on one knee and asked the question Cate had been patiently waiting for. The couple spent the weekend celebrating with skiing and lots of apres!
