There are several public beaches on the west shore if you'd like to get down to the water. Even if it's chilly out, reading on the beach in the Fall is one of our favorite things to do in Tahoe. Some public beach suggestions along the west/north shores: - Sugar Pine Point - William Kent Beach - Commons Beach in Tahoe City - Lake Forest Beach - King's Beach
There are so many great hikes in the area. We recommend the following for those looking to get out and see some Tahoe fall colors. - Eagle Rock (~10 mins to the top with incredible views and very close to wedding events) - Eagle Lake (Out and back, 5.4 miles - Bonus for this hike: you'll also park by Emerald Bay and get those infamous views) - Chickadee Ridge (2.4 mile out and back, bring some bird seed and you'll see where this hike gets its name) - Five Lakes Trail (4.8 mile out and back) - Tahoe East Shore Trail - One of the most scenic walks in the Tahoe area - A little bit further from wedding events but worth the drive.
Weather permitting, there are plenty of beautiful courses in the area. Double check their sites as we get closer to check for closing days. Some of Charlie's (and sometimes Cate's) favorites are: - Old Brockway (9-hole course) - Tahoe City Golf Course (9-hole course, dog friendly) - Incline Village Championship Course - Coyote Moon - Old Greenwood/Gray's Crossing
Rent bikes for the bike path that goes around the lake, or take a mountain bike out on one of the many trails in the area!
Head to downtown Truckee for some shopping, restaurants, and bars.
Go check out some of the best views in Tahoe, and the location of the 1960 Winter Olympics, by taking the tram up to the top of the mountain at Palisades.
