Question

Accessing the Naval Academy

Answer

**ALL visitors 18 years of age or older MUST have a valid, *unexpired* photo ID** (i.e. Driver's license) Visitors under the age of 18 who do not have a valid photo ID must be escorted by an adult with a valid form of identification. Driving instructions for those who wish to drive onto campus for the ceremony and reception: *You can either drive through GATE 1 or GATE 8. Gate 8 is easier because that road leads directly to the parking garage (see map above and FAQ for "Detailed Driving Directions"). If you are having issues with traffic related to the football game along Taylor Avenue then Gate 1 also works. -Guests can drive onto campus starting at 3pm -Once at either Gate, Drivers must identify themselves as guests for the Collins / Maloney wedding at the Chapel and Naval Academy Club to the Gate Guard -Everyone 18 years of age and older in the vehicle MUST be prepared to show proper identification (i.e. driver's license) -Vehicle inspections could be conducted at the gate -Gate Guard will verify your name with that on the list we provided to security then allow you to pass through once all IDs are checked Guests will then proceed to park in the garage located at: 115 Parker Lane, Naval Academy, MD The garage is located next to the Naval Academy Club. If you type the above parking garage address directly into Google Maps or another GPS - it should direct you there as well. Please see the other FAQ "Detailed driving directions" if needed. *And if you will not be driving your own car onto the campus, then you must walk or Uber or taxi to GATE 1 of Naval Academy. Once at Gate 1, you will walk through the security building and present your ID to the guards in the visitor entrance. Once through security, there will be a shuttle in a golf cart-type vehicle to drop you off to the Chapel. The shuttle will start at 3pm and end at 3:45pm. *NOTE: You cannot take an Uber or taxi onto the campus directly to the Chapel or Club.

Answer

See US Naval Academy Map above and at this link: https://www.usna.edu/_files/documents/USNA_VisitorsMap23.png After entering Gate 1, golf carts will be available to transport guests to the Chapel. If you prefer a ~12 minute walk, after entering Gate 1, continue straight on Cooper Road, past "Bill the Goat" statue until you reach the intersection of Cooper Road and Porter Road. Turn left onto Porter Road and continue for approx 500 ft to Buchanan Road. Turn right onto Buchanan Road and continue for 250 ft. Turn left onto Blake Road, at the Submarine monument, and the Chapel will be on your left.
