Golden is such a fun and stunningly gorgeous town. It's literally butted up against the Rockies and in the Fall you can see the snow-capped mountains and literal golden leafed trees. There are a bunch of cute coffee shops, souvenir shops, restaurants, and little museums. You can tour the Coors factory or walk down the creek that runs through downtown. A few of our favorite restaurants there are Trailhead Brewing (their chili is phenomenal), Buffalo Rose, and Atomic Cowboy (the best biscuits ever)!
If the weather is good there are TONS of hiking trails in and around Red Rocks that are super easy and beautiful. This is one of the coolest amphitheatres in the US that's built into the mountain. Even if you don't want to hike, going to the museum and walking around is well worth it.
We went here for Duncan's 30th birthday and WOW was it so much fun! It's a great place to come alone, with kids, with a group, and with zero expectations. It's a fully immersive art exhibit that encourages you to touch everything, explore everywhere, and let yourself be amazed again. Go here. It's great.
This is Cat's FAVORITE restaurant in Denver. Get the Stubysnacks. It's a modern diner and boy is it amazing. Cocktails are fabulous. Food is fabulous. Atmosphere is, you guessed it, fabulous. It's also right next to Ace, Eat, Serve which is a top five Cat and Duncan restaurant AND it's a ping-pong bar. Both are great!
This is fun for families and adults. There is a tarantula named Rosie that you can pet and it's where Duncan and I took some of the kids we worked with when we worked at an autism center. They have some pretty cool animals too!
