How We Met

Our story began in 2016 on the sidewalk in Back Bay. Just weeks after graduating from Boston University, Cat encountered a big dirty brown dog enthusiastically approaching her off-leash on Commonwealth Avenue. His owner introduced him as Bear and told Cat how badly Bear needed a dreaded bath. Weeks later Cat saw Bear playing fetch in the park just across from her new apartment. His ball went flying over the fence into the street. She waited for traffic to stop and ran across Commonwealth to hand it directly to his owner, who thanked her for helping. Cat knew she needed a dog of her own and adopted 5 month-old Samson in September 2016. The next day she brought Samson over to the local dog hangout across from her little studio apartment and officially was introduced to Cody and Bear - third time's the charm. Cat and Cody lived just two short blocks from one another and started meeting daily at the park, becoming friends along with the group of neighborhood dog parents. We were both in the “Yappy Hour” group chat and that’s how Cat got Cody’s phone number to ask for advice on training Sammy. After a few months of friendship Cody asked Cat if she’d had dinner yet, and having just finished eating with friends, she responded “nope” and the rest is history.

Our Pack

Looking for more purpose in life, Cody adopted Bear from Animal Rescue League of Boston on a whim during his senior year at Boston University in March 2015. After 22 dog-obsessed years and needing a huge change in her life, Cat adopted Sammy from Last Hope K9 in September 2016. Bear and Samson quickly became best friends and brothers and were co-parented by Cody and Cat after their friendship turned into a romantic relationship in the late Fall of 2016. Bear and Samson officially became roommates in September 2017. Bear and Sammy were inseparable and together they led Cat and Cody on daily adventures, building beautiful memories. Unfortunately in July 2021, Bear’s journey came to an abrupt end due to cancer. Samson, Cody, and Cat were devastated. A month later, Cody adopted Bayla. She brings a lot of love and joy into her new family, and annoys her big brother Samson to no end. They also have a cat named Kennedy. See @samson_thebeaglemix on Instagram.
