The Terry Black's BBQ Story Born and raised in Lockhart, Texas - the barbecue capital of Texas, and perhaps the world - our dad Terry Black passed down generations of barbecue wisdom from his experience in the Lockhart BBQ scene. We opened Terry Black’s to honor that hard-earned family know-how and to bring delicious Central Texas flavors to you with our own unique style.

Old 6th Street, sometimes fondly known as Dirty 6th, is the original entertainment section of the street including those venues between Congress Avenue (to the west) and I-35 (to the East). Old 6th, sometimes considered the “rowdy” part of the district and often compared to New Orlean’s Bourbon Street, does have its drinking bars, but also is home to some upscale restaurants, laid back pubs and family friendly entertainment. West Sixth is defined as that Section of 6th Street from Congress Avenue west to Mopac. It’s an eclectic mix of some of Austin’s most historic and iconic venues and pool-top dance clubs, with plenty of outdoor patio ice-house type venues, upscale eateries and hip college yuppy/hipster hangouts. East 6th was born of gentrification and the original hipster movement. East 6th is still the most laid-back version of Austin’s iconic entertainment district with neighborhood bars, lots of outdoor spaces, craft breweries, the last of 6th’s food trucks and great live music.
Zilker Botanical Garden is nestled within Zilker Metropolitan Park in the heart of downtown Austin. Our themed gardens including the Taniguchi Japanese Garden, Hartman Prehistoric Garden, and Rose Garden, are all interconnected with pathways for all ages and abilities. With heritage live oaks, streams, and Koi-filled ponds, the Garden offers a peaceful respite in the middle of our busy city.
Our roots trace back to 2008 when Austin locals and high school comrades Patrick and Forrest Clark and Marco Rodriguez turned their shared passion for brewing into a garage hobby. Using a homemade setup, the trio honed their craft after work and on weekends, driven by a love for the art and science of brewing. Their dedication paid off with multiple award-winning beers over the years. In 2015, our three founders took the leap and decided to go all-in on their dream career. They resigned from their day jobs and upgraded their operation from the garage to a proper brewery and taproom in East Austin. Since then, our team has grown as we continue striving to brew exceptional beer, build community, and champion craft beer culture.
