Church Street is a great walking street in Burlington (Burlington is approx. 35-40min drive from our town). There are plenty of places to shop, eat, and walk about. Visit the Church Street Marketplace website to check out events, shopping, restaurants, bars, etc.
Lake Champlain is in Burlington (Burlington is approx. 35-40min from our town). Burlington is our "big city" area. Burlington is where the UVM college is. Lake Champlain is massive! You can see parts of New York and Canada from Lake Champlain. It's definitely a cool thing to check out.
These folks have built a really nice little glass blowing studio. Classes are supposed to be a blast. Very cool experience for kids and adults.
There are too many incredible golf courses in the area to list. But this one is a good start.
There are so many great hikes near us. This is just one of our favorites, the views on top of pinnacle are amazing. This hike is for more experienced hikers, it's a pretty steep hike but the views are worth it. Pinnacle is in Stowe (Stowe is approx. 30-35min drive from our town). If you download the AllTrails app it will show you all the great hikes near us.
This is one of our favorite swimming spots. It's right down the road from our house and a great way to cool off in the humid summer heat!
In the summer this is one of our favorite things to do on Saturday's. It's a lovely farmers market with lots of Vermont handmade foods, Vermont handmade crafts, live music and lots of socializing. We highly recommend checking this out.
This place is worth making the beautiful 20 minute drive up over the spine of the Green Mountains. Their pizza is world class. And the place just has a really nice laid back Vermont feel. We love it here on a summer evening.
Honey Road is one of our favorite restaurants in Burlington (Burlington is approx. 35-40min drive from our town). Honey Road is Eastern Mediterranean cuisine and has a fantastic cocktail program. Definitely a fun place to check out.
If you like fancy craft beers then Lawson's is a must. They make some of the most famous beers in the country. Their taproom is huge with beautiful post and beam construction. Food is meh but the beer is one of those things Vermont is really famous for.
The VG is our go-to spot for breakfast sandwiches and maple creemes. It's a local favorite. The deli counter also does a solid sub if you want to grab a sandwich to bring on a hike. This is kind of a classic Vermont gas station/deli. Get the bacon, egg, and cheese on a biscuit with chipotle mayo and thank us later.
Canteen Creemee is in Waitsfield (Waitsfield is approx. 15min drive from our town). Canteen is a great spot. It's super casual, what they are famous for are their intense, over the top, ice cream and creemees. If you've never heard of a creemee before it's basically soft serve but Vermonter's take it to whole new level! Canteen also does great fried chicken. This is a good stop for quick, casual bites.
Mehuron's is in Waitsfield (Waitsfield is approx. 15mins from our town). Mehuron's is a supermarket, but make it fancier. They have lots of local produce, meats and cheeses. They also have all your regular grocery needs. Mehuron's has an amazing deli with freshly made grab and go options as well as fantastic sandwiches. There is also a liquor store located inside Mehuron's. Fun Fact: in Vermont hard liquor isn't sold in grocery stores. Hard liquor is only sold at liquor stores.
Good thing to know: Shaws is our local supermarket chain. Think Shaws=Ralphs/Vons. Shaws grocery stores are in every town so wherever your lodging there will be a Shaws near you!
Oakes and Evelyn is the restaurant Cassy works at. Cassy has been part of their chef team for 2years. Oakes and Evelyn will also be providing the food for the wedding. O&E is a modern farm-to-table restaurant in Montpelier (Montpelier is the capitol of Vermont and approx. 10-15min drive from our town). Oakes and Evelyn is a wonderful, cozy spot for excellent food and craft cocktails.
Barr Hill is in Montpelier (fun fact: Montpelier is the capital of Vermont). Barr Hill is a local Vermont distillery. They make gin, and vodka and have won many awards for their delicious gin. Barr Hill has a restaurant and bar in Montpelier where they make amazing craft cocktails and yummy snacks.
Bohemian Bakery is a bakery in Montpelier (Montpelier is approx. 10-15min from our town). This is easily one of our favorite bakeries. Stop in and get a coffee or matcha and grab any pastry. Everything they do is so good.
Hen of the Wood has been a Vermont restaurant staple for years. It's located in Waterbury (Waterbury is approx. 10-15min drive from our town). This is a great spot to check out good food and classic cocktails.
The Reservoir is a great, relaxed craft beer spot. The Reservoir is located in Waterbury (Waterbury is approx. 10-15min drive from our town). This is a great place to relax for a while, have some beers and eat some wings.
Salt and Rind is a newer spot in Waterbury (Waterbury is approx. 10-15min drive from our town). This is a great place for snacks and cocktails. They do oysters, clambakes, cheese & charcuterie boards, good place for casual hangs.
Maxi's is a great casual breakfast spot. Maxi's is in Waterbury (Waterbury is approx. 10-15min from our town) can never go wrong with Maxi's for breakfast.
