Bride
I met Kate during AIDS/LifeCycle 2017. Though we had been on the ride the same amount of years this ones the first one where our paths crossed. Our week of hanging out during ALC 17 turned into many phone calls, texts and a few donut dates, including one that included a 50 mile bike ride! Shortly after that we finally made it official!
Bride
I met Cassie when she was a Roadie on AIDS/LifeCycle and I had started working for the Ride as a Roadie Coordinator. We'd been on all of the same Rides until then, but with me as a Cyclist and she as a Roadie so our paths hadn't crossed. The stars aligned in 2017!
Officiant
A long time friend to both Cassie and Kate. Janelle started as Cassie's Roadie Coordinator and that developed into a friendship. Janelle was Kate's counterpart in LA when they both worked for AIDS/LifeCycle and their skills balanced each other perfectly. Janelle was Cassie's first point of contact during her first AIDS/LifeCycle and her main contact helping her along the way as she learned the joys of being a Roadie Captain. Cassie, Janelle and Kate all share a love of animals especially each others and enjoy frequent updates and random pet videos/memes.
Wedding Party
Sam and Kate met as members of the SF production team at AIDS/LifeCycle. Through the trenches of AIDS/LifeCycle, they became close friends. Though their paths never crossed at AIDS/LifeCycle (Sam being on the Route and Cassie in Camp), by proxy, Cassie also became close friends with Sam.
Wedding Party
The third member of Breakfast Club, we first became close friends through her participation on Sports Med, Kate needing help with and injury and Cassie somehow being confused for Kiah. As a friendship formed, we would eat breakfast and dinner together most days of ALC, share laughs over cupcakes and hang out in the sports med tent after hours. Eventually our quad became what we call Breakfast Club, and once "matching" onesies are involved you know it's real!
Wedding Party
The fourth member of Breakfast Club, we all became close friends through her participation on Sports Med. Cassie stumbled into the Sports Med tent one day and never left (according to Kiah). But between their shared love of coffee, guessing games and Cassie some how being confused for Kiah it was a friendship meant to be from the start. Kate found herself in the Sports Med tent after a few days of “over walking” and needing some treatment. As a friendship formed, we all would eat breakfast and dinner together most days of ALC and hang out in the sports med tent after hours. Eventually our quad became what we call Breakfast Club and once "matching" onesies are involved you know it's true friendship!
Wedding Party
Jabbs (Virginia) worked many years at summer camps with Cassie and after bonding during lifeguard training, living on each others' couches (a week counts) and countless singing events, they have been friends ever since. Ask them about their shared parenthood of ESAF! Kate and Jabbs became friends by proxy after Jabbs stayed with them during a virtual SongShare Girl Scout weekend and easily jumped in on all the songs and dances!
Wedding Party
The mom of Tilly, Angie and Cassie met while working at the Salt Lake REI shortly after Kate and Cassie moved to SLC in late 2020. They have become fast friends and share a newly discovered love of Rope Nerds, hiking in all types of weather, and Cactus Pens. Via Cassie, Angie and Kate became friends and the doggos also considered Angie to be a “best friend” (aka someone who spoils them).
Wedding Party
Striff and Kate worked together in the SF AIDS/LifeCycle office, becoming fast friends and bonded through a shared love of art, dogs, and silly jokes. Striff now lives across the country but they have the type of friendship that can pick right back up after ages apart. Via Kate, Cassie has also become a friend of Striff's.
Honored Doggos
Oakley Bear joined the family in March 2019. He was the little brother to his big sister, Zoey, for four blissful months as he got to enjoy many days and nights sleeping ON TOP of Zoey. Zoey passed away in July 2019 and for three months Oakley was an only dog. Much to his chagrin, we adopted his little brother, Echo, in October 2019. We lovingly refer to them as the Bear Brothers, taking them on many adventures with us! We love our little family of four. They have a prior engagement but have pre-blessed this union
In Loving Memory
Zoey was born in June 2002 and lived a long life as Kate's sidekick, going on many adventures, camping trips and living in a few different states. When Cassie joined Kate's life in 2017, Cassie took on the role as Zoey's second Mom. As Zoey's hearing and vision declined, she never wavered as Kate's loyal sidekick. Zoey lived to be 17 and passed on her middle name to her brothers and any future doggo siblings.
