Dating is the worst, we know this. Trying to meet people during a global pandemic while moving to a new state where you don't know anyone is even scarier. Cassie and David met at a time when meeting people was harder than it has ever been and socializing in person was at an all-time low. Everything was shut down, at limited capacity, or just not the same as it was before. Navigating dating apps and trying to get a sense of someone's true personality and intentions through a screen can make it almost impossible to find the right match. David was ready to be the designated cool single uncle to the children of his friends. Cassie had accepted a lifetime of going to concerts alone like she had in the past. Even so, David met Cassie on Friday, October 30th, 2020. During their date, they talked for hours before even ordering drinks. After dinner, neither of them wanted the date to end, so David offered to take Cassie to a Halloween store to find the last piece of her costume that she had been looking for. This was the shameless, nerdy beginning of what would eventually lead to a proposal in Disney World exactly one year later, and a wedding two years later. Between getting new jobs, graduating from a Ph. D and Master's program, and surviving the worst winter storm in Texas, David and Cassie found each other at a time when God knew they needed each other the most. The move to Texas felt random and temporary, led by David being matched for his Ph. D internship. However, God knew there was someone waiting for him as well as a beautiful life and a big, loving family. Cassie and David can't wait to start that life together on December 17th.
