FAQs

This wedding is a bit unorthodox. Let us fill in some of the holes.
Question

Thursday Wedding?

Answer

Yes, that's right...we're getting married...on a Thursday! As a nod to our original anniversary on 8/6/16 and to keep future anniversaries simple, we felt it was only fitting to get married on our 10-year anniversary of togetherness, 8/6/26.

Question

Traditional Reception?

Answer

Overall, yes! We will have a sit-down meal, a first dance, etc. Otherwise, hang out with us...boogie on the dance floor, enjoy a bonfire, play some yard games, view the classic cars, and enjoy the scenery and horses.

Question

Which Address Do I go to?

Answer

Please navigate to 10730 W J Ave. Kalamazoo, MI for parking. While the wedding will be held at the farm (1710 22nd St. Kalamazoo MI), the main driveway to the farm will be blocked off for traffic purposes. Specific family members will be invited to park at the farm address. You will be notified ahead of time.

Question

Is there a ceremony?

Answer

Yes there is, however, we'd prefer to keep our ceremony intimate and private with immediate family and a few close friends. Folks that are invited to this portion of the wedding will receive a specific invitation for the ceremony. For the majority of guests, please help us celebrate our marriage by joining us for our cocktail hour and reception! Play some yard games, boogie on the dance floor, view some classic cars, and enjoy the scenery.

Question

Child-Free Wedding?

Answer

As much as we would love to see you AND your kiddos, we've opted to err on the side of safety for this event. The wedding will be held on an active horse farm and there's just too much risk and liability with youngsters around the livestock, farming equipment, and vast trails at the farm. Please enjoy a date night out while your kids hang back :)

Question

Bathroom situation?

Answer

We will have two deluxe porta potties close to the reception space.

Question

What's the Environment?

Answer

We are nature lovers and feel it's only right to embrace nature in our wedding! The ceremony will be held in a horse pasture. Grass will be mowed to a suitable length for walking, however the ground may be uneven. The cocktail hour and reception will be held in the farm's riding arena which is a sandy base. Efforts will be made to offer guests breaks from the sand, however appropriate shoes should be worn to accommodate this (suggest no high heels). There will be plenty of shade and a tent to escape from the elements.

Question

What Should I Wear?

Answer

We're labeling this as a semi-formal event. Please leave your tuxedos and gowns at home...unless you feel so inclined :) Please wear comfortable shoes for uneven ground, grass, and sand...leave the heels at home too!

Question

What's for dinner?

Answer

We will have a BBQ food truck visiting us for dinner! Several picnic style dishes will be available for your meal selection (including vegetarian).

Question

Should I bring a gift?

Answer

We are simply grateful to enjoy your company at our wedding! That alone is gift enough. If you would still like to gift us something, we have set up a "Farm Fund" that will help us support our dream farm and all of those aspirations.

Question

Ummm...Bugs?

Answer

A genuine effort will be made to minimize mosquitoes and flies. The property will be sprayed with repellent a few days prior to the wedding, and each reception table will be equipped with a mosquito-repellent ball. Bug spray will also be provided.

For all the days along the way
