In August of 2020 Blake and Cassi met on a dating app, although they’ve always told Blake’s mom they met through a mutual friend named David.. sorry Tracy!😂 The two of them quickly hit it off and spent every day they could together. Blake always visited Cassi in Madison and tried new things with her. From new fancy restaurants in town to flashlight corn mazes, you name it and Blake was there. Blake even booked a trip to the Wilderness Resort the same morning Cassi asked just because “she wanted to be spontaneous”. In October of 2020 they went on another fancy dinner date and Blake had asked Cassi to be his girlfriend. Soon after, in April, they moved in together and adopted their first fur baby, Kip. The following year Blake agreed to move to Florida with her so she could be a travel nurse. This is also where they rescued their second fur baby, Kiya. The following summer they moved back home to be closer to family and continued to build a life together.
On January 6th, 2024, Blake and I had planned to go see my parents for the weekend to celebrate Christmas. Because of this, we had asked Blake’s mom and step dad to watch our dogs. Blake was up and ready an hour before we had to leave, which I thought was a bit odd but just went with it. Blake and I got to his moms house an hour early and she had us bring the dogs through the front door. Which was a bit off again because we always let them run through the back gate. Right before this, I had got my thumb stuck in the car door which also distracted me and got Blake inside before I knew what he was doing. As we were icing my thumb inside Tracy had stated she had a late Christmas present for me and I had to close my eyes. Immediately I thought Blake was proposing but didn’t want to jinx it, because I had been asking for months. Blake’s family had set up beautiful decorations so Blake could propose on the deck, a place we spend a lot of time together. I said yes immediately and was so surprised I had no idea about it. We then got to show both of my parents, my grandma Joyce, and some extended family and celebrate with them back in my hometown. A perfect day.
