Our Story

Logan's Version: I had been living and working in Joplin, Missouri as an athletic trainer for the women's soccer team. We had just left for southern Oklahoma on a 5 day trip when I got a random text from an Iowa number asking about supplies for our final game in Kansas City. After a few messages back and forth, I realized our coach left out some details about what needed to be brought to the games and I began to panic. Game day quickly approached and I had kept in contact with the opposing athletic trainer trying to make the day go as smoothly as possible. I was taping the ankles for some of my athletes when I turned around to see the person that I had been messaging me. I instantly noticed her genuine smile and beautiful eyes and was blown away. After the game we made some small talk while making ice bags and preparing for our respective trips back to our schools. We went our separate ways and I was disappointed that I hadn't made more of an effort to get to know Cassandra when I had the chance, when I felt my phone vibrating and her name coming across the screen! I quickly answered and all I could hear was the sound of girls giggling in the background and a quick shout from Cassandra when she had realized what she had done. To this day I still tell her that she chickened out on calling me and blamed it on a butt-dial. From that moment on, no matter the miles between us, the odd hours worked, or the competitiveness, nothing has come between us and I wouldn't have it any other way. Cassandra's Version: Logan and I were both working as athletic trainers for collegiate soccer teams in 2019. Our teams were playing in Kansas City (middle ground between southern Minnesota and southern Missouri), so I got Logan's number to coordinate who would be bring what supplies, etc. Prior to the game, I introduced myself to Logan and thought he was so handsome. I messaged one of my friends who had gone to school in Joplin to see if she knew him, she did and I immediately asked about his relationship status (thanks, Emily!!). The game was in KC in the beginning of September, so the humidity was 150%. I was soaked in sweat by the end of the game. After the game, we started talking while making ice bags and we realized that we had grown up an hour away from each other (Williamsburg and Monroe) and known people who had run in the same circles. I left the game wishing I would have had the chance to get to know him some more. My team stopped at Firehouse Subs on the way back to Minnesota and as I got off the bus, I realized I had put my phone in my pocket and butt-dialed Logan! I yelled some expletives and hung up. Unfortunately (or fortunately), Logan had heard me and thought it was funny. We started texting while we were on our respective bus rides back and never stopped. I made trips to see him in Joplin and we met in the middle in Iowa. I was in Joplin for spring break in 2020 when the whole world shut down. I got stuck at Logan's house and was unsure what was going to happen next. I got a few extra days with him and realized this might really be going somewhere. Logan moved back to Iowa in the fall of 2020 and I moved back in the summer of 2021. We have so much fun together and no one balances me better than Logan. Logan arranged for my family to come to Des Moines under the ruse of celebrating my birthday in January of 2024 when he asked me to marry him. I said 'yes' without hesitation!! I am so excited to have all the most important people to celebrate our day with us!
