During the summer of 2017, two years after graduating from the same college, Sam and Tasha met at a mutual friend’s house on Mud Lake during Grandmas Marathon in Duluth. Sam had just moved back from Montana and was living there, and Tasha was visiting for the weekend after just moving back to Minnesota from Missouri. A few weeks later, Sam messaged Tasha on Instagram about her dog, Hamachi. That was the ice breaker! Little did Sam know that some day down the road, Hamachi would be his dog, too. Later that fall, Tasha came back to Duluth with her friend (bridesmaid) Allison for a weekend to visit. Tasha had strategically planned the trip to see Sam, not relaizing fall was a hard time to get Sam to do much other than hunt. It was a beautiful Friday evening in the deer woods when Sam had just got down from his deer stand and told his roommate (usher) Geppy that Tasha was in town. He said that he might go back into the woods to hunt a bit longer and try to meet up later. Geppy told Sam he was an idiot and to go ASAP. So, following his friend’s (smart) advice, Sam did just that. They went out with friends and enjoyed a night at a few of their old college haunts. A few weeks later, Sam made the strategic plan to visit Tasha in Minneapolis on his way to his annual South Dakota pheasant trip. This night is what they consider their first date, at Nico’s in Uptown. They were the only two patrons that night but enjoyed good conversation and a dramatic trip over a rug by Tasha. A few more visits back and forth, lead to more connection and the decision to date long distance. Fast forward a few years, and Sam proposed on September 20, 2020 at Palisade Head on the north shore on their way up to the Gunflint Trail. Tasha obviously said “YES!” and they enjoyed a week of celebrations, fishing, hiking, and fun with friends at Hungry Jack Lodge. That brings us to today where we are overly excited to celebrate our marriage and future together with all of you!
