At the behest of mutual friends, Steve sent Casey an Instagram message, asking her on their first date at the Old Court in December 2017. The date was fun, albeit a little awkward, as first dates tend to be. They lost touch shortly after the date but coincidentally ran into each other that following spring and summer, passing by each other in the streets of Lowell, trying to avoid eye contact on more than one occasion. Finally in August 2018, Steve and Casey reconnected and went on another first date, a late-summer hike just before Steve went back to work at Lowell High. After dating for a few months, Steve asked Casey the old-fashioned way if she'd be his girlfriend at a New Year's Eve party, surrounded by many of their best friends.

Steve snooped on Casey's Pinterest page to find inspiration for an engagement ring. After also picking out a discreet travel size ring box, everything was ready to go. He knew he was going to ask in the upcoming months and strategically brought up the idea of an "impromptu" trip to Colorado. The exact moment of proposal wasn't planned. Instead, Steve relied on the right moment to strike, with the ring waiting to jump out of his pocket. So on a cool Tuesday morning in October 2023, Casey and Steve went on an excursion tour through the mountains. A couple of stops in, they arrived at Echo Lake, a beautiful little lake on Mount Blue Sky. After asking a stranger to take their photo, Steve got down on one knee and asked Casey to spend her life with him. After the excitement of calling their friends and family to share the news, Casey and Steve went to see one of their favorite artists at a Red Rocks concert. What was a quick three-day trip to Denver turned into one of the most memorable trips of their entire relationship.

Casey and Steve have experienced many adventures together over the years, but their favorite thing to do is to share their appreciation for nature, art, music, and all of the beautiful things life has to offer. They love traveling all throughout the United States and have explored several areas of Canada and Costa Rica. They're excited to visit even more areas of the world (and always looking for vacation suggestions!). While Steve and Casey have attended countless weddings of loved ones, they are excited to be planning their own. When they aren't knee deep in invitation styles and DIY projects, they enjoy working out together, relaxing at home, yelling at the TV during Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, doing puzzles (Steve) and playing Fortnite (Casey). That last parts a joke, but you knew that. We are so grateful and lucky to have so many wonderful people in our lives and couldn't be happier for our next chapter!
