Flight

Laguardia (LGA) or John F Kennedy Airport (JFK)

NYC has two major airports and they are both great options (and newly renovated!). LGA is slightly closer to the city, very easy to grab a cab, and head to your accommodations. JFK has tons of flights everyday so is a good option as well. It's slightly further out but again very easy to hop in a cab and get to the city. We recommend a yellow cab or a ride share app (there will be tons of signage directing you to either option). There will be people stationed near the exits of both airports offering black car service - do not take these, they are unregulated and overcharge. EWR - or Newark International airport can sometimes come up as the cheapest option. If you are willing to travel in from New Jersey, this can sometimes be a great choice. It's slightly more complicated and the fare to get into the city or to Brooklyn can equal the difference in a fare from LGA or JFK so just keep that in mind. We recommend a ride share into the city from EWR.

Train

NYC SUBWAY

Getting around the city via the subway is amazing! It is super simple to navigate and the system has recently been updated, so you no longer need to buy a metro card. You can just tap to pay with a credit card or your apple wallet. Google/Apple Maps gives detailed instructions on which train to take and the schedule it is currently running on. Just make sure you're headed in the correct direction on your train before boarding. City Mapper is a great alternative mapping app to use. It gives minute by minute updates to train schedules and advisories (some trains don't run on the weekends or can be down for service so this is great tool to route you around this) It gives both walking, train and cab directions so no matter how you get around, it can be a good tool. Uber and Lyft are easy ride share apps to use, but there are tons out there so use whatever you're comfortable with. If you have never done so we highly recommend hailing a yellow cab in the city, it's an amazing and easy way to catch a ride plus so ICONIC!
